Day of the Girl Child
Save the Children Eswatini took part in this year’s (2018) International Day of the Girl Child.
Save the Children played a vital role in the planning process ensuring that the event became a success.
The event held at Bhunya, on October 11 saw organizations witnessing children, including the Girl Child expressing themselves through singing, drama plays, poetry, speeches and parading amongst other things.
In the forefront was a Girl Child, directing the proceedings from the onset.
Save the Children Eswatini country director Dumisani Mnisi during his speech encouraged the Girl Child to always focus on school.
“In line with this year’s theme, ‘WITH HER, A SKILLED GIRL FORCE FOR ESWATINI,’ girls should be empowered to go to school.
Girls are equally capable of anything as boys, so they should ensure that they take every opportunity afforded to them in as far as education is concerned,” he said.
He further assured the girl child that they can achieve anything as long as they put their minds into it.
“Anything you want to do you can do it, jobs do not define gender, and gender does not define capability and that should not limit the heights you can reach if your minds knows exactly what they want.
Lastly, stay at school and so you can be better people in the future, economically and otherwise,” he added.
